How to get rid of whiteheads

June 30th, 2009 No comments

Whiteheads, unlike blackheads, can be caused by skin that is too oily or too dry, which makes preventing whiteheads harder and knowing how to get rid of whiteheads more important. Whiteheads are the most annoying of pimples.

How to get rid of whiteheads:

  1. The first thing that you need to do is open your pore[s], how do you do this? With heat. Take a clean rag, pour hot, but bearable water on it, and hold it to your face for twenty seconds or so.
  2. Next, you pop the whitehead.
  3. After popping the whitehead, wash your hands and face.

If whiteheads are a recurring problem and you are doing everything that you can at home to avoid whiteheads, you need to see a dermatologist.

Big Pimple

June 30th, 2009 Comments off

Pimples are annoying and can sometimes be painful, big pimples are even worse. It is important that you can recognize the difference between a pimple that is just bigger than normal, and a pimple that may be infected.

This is what you should do in case you get one of those big, ugly pimples.

Does the pimple look and feel like a normal pimple does, just a little bigger? If this is the case, you probably just got a bigger than average pimple [They are technically called cystic pimples]. It is best not to pop it, but if you must pop it, do so carefully.

Does the pimple look different, feel different, or hurt much more than usual? If this is the case you may have an infection or another serious skin care problem. I would make sure that you see a dermatologist as soon as you can if at all possible.

Take extreme care of your face when you get a big pimple, you do not want to make the situation any worse.

How to get rid of blackheads

June 29th, 2009 No comments

What are blackheads?

Tiny, usually indented bumps. They appear in oily skin only for the most part. Blackheads are one of the most prevalent and annoying forms of acne.

What causes blackheads?

Blackheads are caused by having excess oil on your face. This excess oil clogs one or more of your pore’s, and before you know it an ugly blackhead pops up. Makeup that increases the amount of oil in the skin can be a factor in blackheads popping up as well.

How do I prevent blackheads?

  1. The best way to prevent blackheads is to visit your dermatologist if at all possible. They went through years of medical school and have years of experience in dealing with blackheads, if you want to prevent blackheads or get rid of blackheads, this is your best bet.
  2. Avoid using any makeup/skin care products that increase the oil in your face.
  3. Wash your face regularly, but do not use bar soap. Using bar soap can clog up your pores and make your blackheads worse.

How do I get rid of blackheads?

It is always better to prevent the problem [In this case blackheads] from happening rather than treat the symptoms, but in some cases you have no choice.

  1. Clean your face throughly.
  2. Attempt to try to “pop” your blackhead with a rag.
  3. If the blackhead does pop, clean the area throughly again.
  4. If the blackhead does not pop, do not try again! Attempting to pop a blackhead again and again can damage the skin and cause scarring, something that you do not want to do. If the blackhead does not pop immediately then forget about it and let it heal on its own.

June 28th, 2009 No comments

It is hard to tell what pimple treatments actually work. All of them promise to be perfect for you, and they all have testimonials from dozens of people just like you urging you to buy this miracle product. The problem is, everyone is not the same. Everyone has a different facial complexion, different types of acne… It is impossible to create a pimple treatment that will work for everyone. Many pimple treatments actually do work, at least to some extent, but it can be costly paying upwards of 100 dollars a month for various treatments until you find one that works for you.

If you have enough money and resources, going to a dermatologist is probably the best way to treat your pimples. Unfortunately, going to a dermatologist costs money, and although whatever he or she prescribes for you will most likely work, it will not be cheap either.

If you are on a budget, but would still like to treat you pimples, check out the alternative pimple treatment section of this site. There is bound to be at least one or two treatments that will work to help keep acne away, and it will be much cheaper than other ways of treating acne.

Pimples on scalp

June 28th, 2009 No comments

Unless you shave your head, pimples on your scalp are likely tough for anyone else to see, which is a plus, but this does not mean that scalp pimples are not a pain.

Scalp pimples can be different then normal pimples because often times scalp pimples involve an inflamed piece of hair. Pimples on the scalp can easily become infected, so if your situation ever worsens, it is important to seek a doctor. Most scalp pimples, thankfully, do not result in an infection.

Scalp pimples are usually discovered after brushing or treating your hair. It is important to remember to take it easy on your scalp, I.E. No excessive brushing, shampooing, blow drying… You can still take care of your hair, just be sure to keep your scalp pimple[s] in mind.

It is possible that your scalp pimples were caused by a potential allergic reaction to any hair products you may have been using. If you suspect this may be the case be sure to switch products immediately and see if your situation improves.
