Tetracycline acne is one of the most perscribed antibiotics for acne treatment. It is widely perscribed for one main reason, it works. It does come with a few drawbacks though.

1. Tetracycline acne treatment works best when taken on an empty stomach. This is not necessarily a huge drawback for most, but it is one more thing that you have to plan for and remember.
2. Tetracycline acne cannot be used to treat children, usually 10 or under and Tetracycline acne cannot be used with pregnant women.
3. Tetracycline acne treatment treats the symptoms of acne, it is not a cure for acne by any means.
4. Tetracycline acne has been known to cause a few side effects, most noticably making your skin more vulnerable to sunlight. Therefore you have to make sure that your skin is protected, wearing sunscreen often if you have fair skin.

Tetracycline acne is usually taken in doses that corresponds to the severity of your acne. If the your acne is pretty bad, you usually take up to 2 1 gram tablet a day, if your acne is fairly mild, then you will probably be taking between 2 100-250 mg. tablets a day.
