Acne prevention diet

July 11th, 2009

If you have read any of my other acne articles here at poppingpimples.org, you know that I am a big fan of eating well and living a healthy overall lifestyle to help with your acne.

A good acne prevention diet:

  • Is low in fat, particularly saturated fat. Fat from olive oil for example, is not that bad, because it is primarily mono and poly unsaturated fat. Fat from red meats and butter can do bad things to your health and especially your acne, because the fat is primarily saturated fat. Saturated fat is one of the worst possible foods that ou can consume, it raises bad cholesterol, lowers good cholesterol, increases the chances of heart disease… And I haven’t even gotten to the fact that saturated fat can trigger an acne breakout.
  • The second best thing you can do to prevent acne with your diet is to consume lots of water. Water is completely natural and does great things to your body. It acts as a natural cleansing agent, which should help our acne tremendously. Switching from soda’s to water will do absolute wonder’s for your health!
  • Vitamins can also potentially help with your acne, but remember that taking a vitamin pill everyday is no replacement for healthy living.
  • Cut back on sugar as well! I actually consume a decent amount of sugar a day, but this is not bad for my acne because the sugear I consume is from low fat milk and fruit primarily. If you are getting a lot of sugar a day from non dairy and non fruit products, then you are making a costly error when it comes to managing your acne.

There is a reason that chochlate has long been known to cause acne breakouts. It is not chochlate itself that is generally bad, it is the fact that chochlate is full of unhealthy sugars and saturated fat. Changing to an acne prevention diet, even moderately, will do wonders for your acne and your body in general.
