Toothpaste for pimples

July 11th, 2009

It seems as if half the sources on the internet proclaim that toothpaste for pimples is some sort of miracle treatment, and the other half think that toothpaste does absolutely nothing, both are wrong. Depending on your body and acne situation, toothpaste could potentially help your pre-existing acne. Toothpaste will not make a pimple dissapear overnight, but it could help reduce the size of a pimple quickly.

Do not use toothpaste on pimples if you have very irritable skin. Toothpaste can dry up skin, leaving it red and irritated. This may not sound bad, but on top of acne, having irritated skin is no fun.

Although toothpaste could potentially dry up your skin, many with “thicker skin” [all pun intended] have seen great results with using toothpaste to treat their acne, so I encourage you to at least give it a try.

The main thing to remember when using toothpaste to help treat acne: Do not leave the toothpaste on your face, or anywhere else, overnight, or for a period longer than 1 hour! If toothpaste is left on for an extended period of time, your skin will dry up, making acne situation much worse. The general consensus is to leave toothpaste on your face for between 15 and 45 minutes, I have found my best results leaving toothpaste on my acne for that period of time as well.

The next time you get a pimple, apply a small dab of toothpaste to it, leave it on for a half an hour, and monitor your progress, toothpaste could be the answer you are looking for when it comes to reducing acne’s appearance on your face.
