Smoking and acne

July 17th, 2009

As we all know, smoking causes lung cancer, yellow teeth, and is a generally nasty habit, but new research indicates that smoking could make one’s acne problems worse.

In a recent study, 42% of adult smokers, nearly half, had significant acne problems, compared to only 10% of non smokers who had significant acne. This obviously does not prove anything, but a connection between smoking and acne has been made through a legitimate study, another reason not to smoke! On top of possibly causing acne, smoking definitely causes wrinkles, so if you want your skin to look at least decent, ditch the nasty habit!

One single cigarette has thousands of toxic ingredients, so it is reasonable to assume that one or more of these ingredients could cause an acne outbreak.

I realize that quitting smoking is not easy, but in the end, it will surely be worth it. You will be saving money, saving your face, and you could possibly save your life.
