Pimples on lips

July 18th, 2009

Lip pimples are more painful and more difficult to treat than normal pimples. They are more painful for two reasons. First of all, there are more nerve receptor’s on someone’s lips than there are on their face for example. Secondly, lips come in much more contact with objects, food, other lips, then your chin or forehead does.

Accutane, a popular acne treatment, has been rumored to cause lip pimples, although there is no real proof behind that.

Treating a lip pimple can be pretty tricky. Do not pop a pimple on or near your lip under any circumstance! Many gels/creams pay not be applicable when used for a lip pimple, especially since your lips are so close to your mouth [duh].

Lip pimples can sometimes be confused with herpes, and vica-versa, so that is always something to consider.

Oil and hair follicle’s can easily become attracted and stuck near one’s lips. All the food that goes near your mouth, the number of times you touch your mouth a day, even licking an envelope… It is very easy to get your mouth dirty. If you have persistent lip pimples, try keeping your mouth extra clean for a while and observe what happens, you may be surprised.
