Tretinoin acne treatment
July 20th, 2009
Tretinoin is a popular ingredient used to fight acne. It is most commonly found in the acne treatment Retin-A. Surprisingly, Tretinoin has also been an ingredient in different hair loss prevention treatments, 2 uses in 1!
Things to remember when taking Tretinoin/ Retin-A:
- Start out slow. When you first start taking Retin-A, only apply the treatment every other night. It will be just as effective and it will significantly lower the irritation you may get from Tretinoin.
- If you notice significant irritation, stop using Tretinoin and talk to your dermatologist about it. The chances are that Retin-A treatment is not for you. There are hundreds of different alternatives, you do not have to settle for something that may not work fully or a treatment that may leave you with significant side effects.
- Retin-A is available by prescription only.
- Do not take Tretinoin treatments if you are pregnant or if you may be pregnant.
- Mild dryness and redness is a common side effect, however if it gets out of hand, do not be slow to make a change.
- If you feel a little “warm” right after you applied the treatment do not be worried, this is normal.
- If you live in a severe climate that is either very hot, sunny, cold, or windy you probably want to stay away from Tretinoin.
