Over the counter treatment for acne has several advantages to acne treatments that require a prescription. The first advantage is pretty obvious, it is much easier to get treatments that are sold over the counter. Another potential advantage is that over the counter treatments for acne are usually much cheaper then treatments that require a prescription.

There is no one magic treatment you can buy over the counter that works for everyone. Simply put, everyone is different. There are however, several products available over the counter that are pretty cheap and that have a good track record.

Benzoyl peroxide is a good over the counter acne treatment option. It is cheap and it works for many, which is better then most acne treatments.

Another feasible option is Salicylic acid acne treatment. It is readily available over the counter and can do wonders with people suffering from moderate acne.

Glycolic acid is another option that should be considered. It is cheap and it does a good job of treating one of the causes of acne dead skin cells, instead of just the symptoms.

Sulfur acne treatment is also an up and coming treatment that has had promising results.
