Acne Rosacea
July 25th, 2009
Rosacea is a skin disorder that can cause redness of one’s face and even small pimples. Rosacea is very similar to acne and can also “team up” with acne to form a very annoying combination.
Rosacea is most common in adult women, usually between the ages of 25 and 50 years old. Men do, however, occasionally suffer from Rosacea.
The cause of Rosacea is relatively unknown, which makes it different from acne. Rosacea “flair up’s” are comparable to acne “breakouts”. Flair up’s occur when blood vessels in the face expand.
On top of causing red veins to appear on the face like tiny spiderwebs, Rosacea can also cause irratiation of the eyes.
Rosacea is usually more frustrating than acne for a couple of reasons:
- Lots of people get acne, 85% of teens have acne troubles and almost half of adults. Rosacea is not nearly as widespread, therefore it is not expected and not as socially acceptable.
- Rosacea is a mystery to many, including scientists. There are not many treatments for Rosacea that can be sold over the counter/home made… To get rid of Rosacea you need to see a doctor or dermatologist and get a prescription for a treatment that could be costly.
