Accutane and alcohol

August 10th, 2009

Simply put, never drink a lot of alcohol while being on any serious medication, that includes Accutane.

Drinking alcohol, especially in excess, can increase the amount of trigylcerides in your blood stream. Drinking alcohol in excess does bad things to your liver and can make Accutane’s effect on your liver even worse.

Like I said earlier, it is common sense to not drink alcohol while on medication. It is simply not worth it to put so much strain on your liver while you are taking a medication to help with a cosmetic problem.

If you feel as if there is no way you will be able to stop drinking alcohol while you take Accutane in a 15 to 20 week stretch, do not take Accutane. There are plenty of other acne treatments that you can try out that can be taken with alcohol consumption.
