Saline injections is a viable acne scar treatment.
The Good:
- Saline injections usually go for about 100 dollars per treatment, and treatments are usually spread out 3-5 times over a few months. This is not cheap, but compared to microdermabrasion treatments and laser treatments for acne scars, it is fairly cheap.
- Saline injections work pretty well most of the time. They do not do miracles, but if you are looking to diminish the appearance of your acne scars, this is a pretty good option.
The Bad:
- Saline injections may be cheaper than other alternatives for acne scar removal, but not by much. If you don’t have good insurance, I would advice you to not even consider saline injections. Paying 100 dollars 5-10 times over a 6 month period for something that is not absolutely necessary is not easy to do for most.
- Although some do see remarkable transformations, most see only slight changes. This is not bad, but for hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars, I would want a major change in the way I look.
- Saline injections are only suitable for those with mild acne scars, if you have serious scarring, you will probably need to look into different, more expensive treatments.
If reducing the appearance of acne scars is important to you, saline injections could be what you are looking for.
Laser treatment has the potential to do wonderful things for one’s acne scars. There are dozens of stories out their with before and after pictures, the transformations look almost too got to be true. I would not trust any “stories” you hear or see from someone trying to convince you to embark on laser treatment for your acne. Everyone has an agenda.
Although laser treatment can to great things for acne, it definitely does not come without its faults. You have to ask yourself, is it worth it to pay thousands of dollars in an attempt to try to clear up my skin? Do I have any other options? If laser treatment does not work will I be able to handle it? For me, there is no skin condition, including acne, that is worth spending thousands of dollars on, but everyone is different.
In addition to being expensive, laser treatments are time consuming and often very painful, this is another thing to consider if you are considering getting this type of treatment.
If you have deep pockets and you are serious about clearing up your acne scars, consider getting laser treatments. But for most people I cannot recommend spending so much money on an acne treatment. Search this website or other websites for alternative treatment that could help your situation.
Augmentation is a viable treatment for reducing the appearance of acne scars. Like most treatments for acne scars, augmentation is not cheap, but if getting rid of acne scars is a big deal to you, it could be worth it.
What I like about Augmentation:
- It works for most people. Plain and simple. Getting rid of acne is hard enough, but getting rid of acne scars can be borderline impossible at times. Make sure you feel comfortable with the doctor/dermatologist that will be doing the treatment before spending money on augmentation.
What I don’t like about augmentation acne treatment:
- It is very expensive. 500-1000 dollars is an unreasonable price to pay for many for acne treatment. With the shape that the economy is in augmentation treatment does not make much sense.
- It doesn’t work for everyone. Although augmentation is one of the most effective types of treatments you do not want to spend nearly a thousand dollars on an acne treatment that may not work or may not clear up your acne scars completely.
In the end Augmentation makes since only for those that are serious about their acne. Augmentation is a lot more like plastic surgery when it comes to cost then an actual acne treatment.
Most acne scar treatments are very expensive. Microdermabrasion treatments can cost thousands of dollars and laser treatments are not any cheaper. Most treatments for acne scars simply are not worth it, especially in this economy. Thankfully, there are a myriad of acne scar creams that may be a lower cost solution to your problem.
Acne scar creams usually retail in the high XX [60-99] or low XXX [100-300] range. This isn’t cheap, but if you find a cream treatment that you and your dermatologist both see promise in, it could definitely be worth it.
Most legitimate acne scar creams are available at a pharmacy and require a prescription. If you see a cream that does not require a prescription and promises to be the “savior” for your acne troubles, it is likely BS. Acne scars are obviously very tough to treat, so it will usually take a high powered treatment that requires a prescription to treat the scars in most cases.
There are a few other very cheap creams [10-40 dollars] available that might be what you are looking for. If a reputable company is selling it [Dove, Maybeline... It doesn't really matter as long as the company has a decent track record] look up the product and see if it has gotten good reviews.
Acne scars are tough to deal with, the treatments that work for acne scars also conveniently costs hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.
Here is a list of possible homemade remedies for acne scars, they may not work quite as well as professional treatment, but cheap/free beats spending thousands of dollars every time in my book.
Possible treatment #1: Lemons! Lemons will help brighten up your acne scars, making them much less noticeable in some cases. Pore a little bit of lemon juice into a cotton ball and then press the cotton ball against your face for a few minutes. It is important to make sure that you do not have any cuts on your face before you do this, lemon juice burns very badly and will make you whimper if you accidentally apply it to a cut.
Possible treatment #2: Olive Oil! Applying just a small amount of olive oil to your face from time to time will do wonders for your acne scars. Olive oil, in addition to being a healthy food when eaten, helps moisterize the skin, regrow skin, and keep skin strong.
Surprise treatment: Water! Drinking lots of water, at least 8 cups a day, preferably more, helps your whole body out, not to mention your face. The more water you drink, the healthier your skin will be and the faster your acne scars will begin to dissipate.
