There is a big buzz going around about neutrogena’s new skin id program and rightfully so. They are the first, and only, acne/ skin care company that “personalizes” their skin care products just for you.
They make you take a short test that will last just a few minutes and they ask basic skin care questions. Then they grade the test and give you a score. If your score is low they will recommend you a product that is supposedly compatiable with your skin type and should therefore work best for you. If your score is high they will recommend a different type of acne fighting product.
I think this is a revolutionary system and I am glad that Neutrogena is taking such a hands on approach with their new skin id system, but in the end, like all companies, the bottom line, how much money they make, is all they care about. Neutrogena is using their skin id system as a tool to help them make as much money off each customer as possible.
Although the skin id program is revolutionary, an online quiz is no replacement for a face to face sit down talk with a dermatologist.
Acne discoloration attacks anyone who regularly gets acne. They can be tough to prevent and even tougher to treat. Here are a few tips:
- The easiest way to prevent acne discoloration is to try to cut down on the amount of acne that you get. If you combine healthy living and smart usage of treatments, the amount of acne you get should start to diminish.
- Take care of the pimples that you get. That means not popping your pipmles under any condition, as well as cleaning them regularly and using gels or creams that you have found effective.
- The best way to treat acne discoloration is to talk to a dermatologist. This is not a condition that you can treat by yourself effectively. You can wear makeup to try to treat the symptoms of the problem, or you can ignore the face that your face is discolored, or you can do something about it. Dermatologists know what they are doing!
Acne excoriee is often called “pickers acne”. When a person struggling with acne often picks at their individual acne lesions they can be classified as having acne excoriee.
The easiest way to stop picking your acne, and therefore stop having acne excoriee is to quit cold turkey. Habits are tough to break, but this is a habit that you may have to break if you want your acne and overall skin care situation to improve.
How to quit picking at your acne:
- Put something over your hands. Whether it’s a glove or even munching on a food like popcorn when you notice that you usually do pick at your acne. Just keep yourself occupied.
- Sit on your hands if you have to!
It only takes a few weeks to break a habit! A month from now you could have your whole acne picking problem behind you. Your face will thank you for making a mild change in your lifestyle habits!
It seems like everyone has different views on how exercise effects acne. Some say it has a negative effect, the more you sweat, the worst your acne will get. Others think that exercise is a great option for any health related problem.
Personally, I belong the second group. Exercise is good for your body, and what is good for your body is good for your acne situation, for the most part. Exercising won’t make acne magically dissapear, but it certainly does not make acne worse for sure.
When you do exercise, make sure that you wear a moderate sunscreen. Even if it is not abnormally hot outside, or you will only be out for a half an hour… Wear a low grade sunscreen! Think about your skin for once! Wearing sun screen not only will help your acne situation, it will reduce the risk of skin cancer.
After exercising, take a shower. Make sure that you clean your face very well, and any other places you find that you get acne.
Acne Fulminans is an abrubt onset form of acne congoblata. Like acne congoblata, acne Fulminans is an extremely severe form of ance.
Acne Fulminans is not receptive to treatments for the most part, usually a patient will have to take isotrentinoin or oral steriods to get rid of, or at least help manage, Acne Fulminans.
Acne Fulminans is unique in that it can effect your entire body. It has been known to induce fever and even cause achy joints! That shows you how powerful acne can be.
Fulminans usually shows itself at the start of puberty, around the age of 13.
If you think that you may have Acne Fulminans or any other serious form of acne, you need to book a visit to a dermatologist, no questions asked! Acne Fulminans is nothing to take lightly and can lead to serious disfiguration if it is not noticed and treated early.
