Ingrown pimple

July 26th, 2009 Comments off

Ingrown pimples are annoying. They hurt, plain and simple. Acne is caused in part by hair follicles, when you get a pimple that coincides with an ingrown hair, an ingrown pimple can form.

One of the “catch 22’s” about ingrown pimples is that they can continue to pop up over and over again if you do not take care of the situation.

The best way to treat an ingrown pimple is also free and easy! Apply hot water, as hot as your face will allow, to a rag, then hold the rag against the effected area. This will help to heal up the ingrown pimple and it should help you avoid having any ingrown pimples in the future in that spot.

Trying to pick at the ingrown pimple/hair is not a really good idea for three reasons. One, it won’t do anything to help your situation, even in the short term. Two, it will hurt, a LOT! Three, you could leave yourself with an acne scar and could increase your chances of getting an ingrown pimple again in that area.

Tongue pimples

July 19th, 2009 Comments off

Pimples can exist on the tongue!

What causes tongue pimples?

Certain foods can trigger a tongue pimple. If you get tongue pimples often, try to remember what you have eaten in your past 3-5 meals, you may notice one food in particular that stands out. Try to cut that food from your diet and see if your situation improves.

Also a diet high in fat can cause pimples anywhere, including the tongue, it is important to live as healthy of a lifestyle as you possibly can. Fat makes your pores produce oil, and as we all know, excess oil is one of the main ingredients for acne.

You could also have a virus or another medical condition. If it is that big of an issue to you, or you simply do not feel “right” do not hesitate to visit a doctor, going to the doctor can do you no harm, and it will help your piece of mind.

How can I treat my tongue pimple?

There isn’t really much that you can do, unfortunately. Obviously, traditonal acne treatments will not work inside your mouth.

How can I avoid getting tongue pimples?
Like I said earlier, try to cut out foods that are high in fat. Also, you may be allergic to a specific food that could be triggering your tongue pimples.

Tongue pimples are much more common then you think, if you have one, you are not alone.

Pimples on lips

July 18th, 2009 Comments off

Lip pimples are more painful and more difficult to treat than normal pimples. They are more painful for two reasons. First of all, there are more nerve receptor’s on someone’s lips than there are on their face for example. Secondly, lips come in much more contact with objects, food, other lips, then your chin or forehead does.

Accutane, a popular acne treatment, has been rumored to cause lip pimples, although there is no real proof behind that.

Treating a lip pimple can be pretty tricky. Do not pop a pimple on or near your lip under any circumstance! Many gels/creams pay not be applicable when used for a lip pimple, especially since your lips are so close to your mouth [duh].

Lip pimples can sometimes be confused with herpes, and vica-versa, so that is always something to consider.

Oil and hair follicle’s can easily become attracted and stuck near one’s lips. All the food that goes near your mouth, the number of times you touch your mouth a day, even licking an envelope… It is very easy to get your mouth dirty. If you have persistent lip pimples, try keeping your mouth extra clean for a while and observe what happens, you may be surprised.

Pimples under the skin

July 10th, 2009 Comments off

Pimples under the skin are very frusterating. Normal acne creams and gels do not work for pimples underneath the skin for obvious reasons. These tpes of pimples are often more severe in almost every way, they hurt more and they often take longer to go away.

What causes pimples to pop up underneath the skin?

You may notice that this type of pimple pops up in a pattern, usually every month or so, this is because pimples, especially the type that are underneath the skin, are very hormonal. However, this does not mean that you can’t do anything about it.

How can I avoid getting pimples under my skin?

Diet and exercise, you heard me right! Try eating healthy and exercising often for a month or so, pimples underneath your skin will most likely either dissapear or dissipate.

What can I do to treat these types of pimples?

Like I said earlier, traditional acne treatment will most likely not work for pimples under the skin. If the pimple you have underneath your skin is mild, then try just “waiting it out”. There is one upside to these types of pimples, they are hardly noticeable, so the embarassment factor goes down by a lot! There has been rumours that Vitamin E could help with pimples underneath your skin, but this is not proven. You have nothing to lose by taking vitamin E though.

The the pimple is abnormal in size, color, or pain, make a visit to your dermatologist as soon as you can. You can never take your health and well being too seriously.

Eye pimple

July 9th, 2009 Comments off

Do you get eye pimples? If you do, then you realize that eye pimples are much more painful than your normal, run of the mill pimple, even if they are smaller! This is because you have between 20 and 50 times the nerve endings in and around your eye than you do at a normal spot on your skin.

Eye pimples are technically called styes. They occur when your eyelid gets an infection. It is important to recognize and treat eye styes when you get them, if they go untreated, they can get worse and possibly cause an infection.

How to treat eye pimples: Make sure that you do not pop your eye pimple, this should go without saying, but popping a pimple, especially when it’s on your eye, is not a good way to treat eye pimples. The smartest thing to do is to wait, do not do anything stupid and monitor the progress, or lack thereof, of your eye pimple, if it gets worse, call your dermatologist.

How to avoid eye pimples: Styes occur when your eyelid becomes infected. It is always important to make sure that you are keeping your eyes clean. Another potential aggravator of sorts to eye pimples can be certain eye makeups that ladies use. If you use mascara and you get eye pimples fairly regularly, try switching up the brand, you could be slightly allergic to it.

How to cover up eye pimples: Eye styes are actually fairly indiscreet, one major reason is that your eyes are going to be wide open most of the time, at least while you are awake. If you are a woman, you can cover up your eye pimple with mascara, providing that you are sure that your mascara did not cause your eye pimple in the first place.
