Basis cleanser face wash

August 15th, 2009 Comments off

One great thing about face washes and other related products are that they are an excellent value. Accutane and other more conventional acne treatments can cost hundreds and even thousands of dollars, but you couldn’t spend one hundred dollars on a legitimate face wash if you tried.

Basis cleanser face wash is built under the same mold. It can be bought in most stores for less than ten dollars. Even if this face wash doesn’t work quite as well as other acne fighting products, it is a much better value based on the price alone.

One other great thing about this face wash is that it is good for your skin. Instead of being harmful for your skin, making it red, dryed out, painful, irritated… it does great things for your skin!

Most people notice within a week that their acne gets mildly better after using Basis cleanser face wash, but it is not a miracle face wash and it will not work for everyone. Give it a try!

Gluten and acne

August 7th, 2009 Comments off

Does gluten consumption really aggrivate acne and make acne more severe? Unfortunately it seems like the answer is yes.

A high level of gluten intake can cause stomach inflammation, and that inflammation has been known to effect acne. It is a chain reaction throughout your entire body.

Gluten does not make acne worse for everyone. I recommend that you cut out gluten to the best of your abilities for a week or so, and see if your acne improves.

It can be hard to cut out all of your gluten from your diet, because gluten is so widespread! Cereals, pastas, grains, and breads are all high gluten foods. How many days have you gone without eating at least one of the foods above? Add the fact that oats, rye, and wheat are full of gluten as well and you have yourself a problem!

Simply living healthier, cutting out excess fat in your diet, drinking plenty of water… should be much more effective than trying to cut out all of the gluten from your diet, so that is always the first place that you should start.

Acne holes

August 2nd, 2009 Comments off

Acne holes are not some sort of dangerous new kind of acne, they are basically the scars left from preexisting acne. Here are a few tips on how to prevent and treat acne holes:

  1. Don’t pop your pimples! That is the easy way out! Popping your pimples is a surefire way to get acne scars. Would you rather have one pimple for a few days or an acne scar/hole that will stay with you for the rest of your life? If you are concerned about your acne, look into ways of treating and preventing your acne in the first place.
  2. Talk to a dermatologist! Dermatologists know what they are talking about, they went to school for 6-8 years researching acne and other skin conditions. They can talk to you on a one on one basis and give you personalized tips that you could not receive online. In addition, they have the power to be able to prescribe to you several different powerful treatments for your acne holes that you would not be able to buy over the counter.
  3. Consider more serious opperations like chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments if getting rid of acne holes is a big deal to you.  They are not cheap but they do work for most.

Hormonal acne breakouts

July 29th, 2009 Comments off

Are hormonal acne breakouts real, or are you just imagining it? I personally think that there is not question that hormonal acne breakouts occur.

Think about it this way: Acne is based on hormones. You begin to get acne at the start of puberty, between 9-12 years old, your acne is at its worst at the height of puberty in the middle teen years, when hormones are all over the place, and women are much more likely to get adult acne then men are because of hormonal difference. I don’t even see why it is a debate! Acne breakouts are obviously tied in some way to one’s hormones.

Research has come out to prove what I have thought for a long time. In one study acne got 25% worse towards the end of a monthly cycle. There is no way that is a coincidence.

Hormonal acne is especially tricky because it usually does not respond to traditonal treatment like creams, gels, oral treatments…

Plain and simple: If you are a woman who is getting hormonal acne breakouts, go to a dermatologist. This problem is not going to go away, if anything, doing nothing will only make it worse. A dermatologist will be able to talk to you about your situation using his or her expertise and they should be able to prescribe to you a treatment that could work with your hormones to control your acne.

Over the counter acne treatment

July 16th, 2009 No comments

There are hundreds of potential over the counter acne treatments that you could invest in, how do you know what to choose?

Benzoyl Peroxide: This is a good, cheap option. If you have dry skin, or you do not want to have dry skin, I would stay away from this though. Click the link to read a full article on it.

Salicylic acid: This is another decent option found in many different over the counter acne treatments. If you are lucky enough to only have moderate acne, this is a good option.

Sulfur acne treatment: This is an excellent option for those of you looking for an over the counter acne treatment. It is important to remember though, that sulfur treatment does not come without side effects.

There is no over the counter treatment for acne that works as well as a prescription tailored just to your specific situation, so visit your dermatologist if you can. The best way to improve you acne situation is to always live well.
