Acne can be painful, can be very noticeable, acne can lower someones self esteem and it can cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to pay for treatment, severe acne is even worse. If you have severe acne fight back! If you become informed and make smart decisions about your situation, you may not have to worry about acne anymore.
If you have read any of the articles I post here on my blog, you know that my first recommendation is to always book a visit to a dermatologist you trust. They went through years of medical school and they have the power and influence to be able to prescribe to you powerful, effective medicine that you cannot [legally] get over the counter.
I advise you to clean your face regularly and to live a healthy lifestyle. Your skin is often a reflection of how your body is doing on the inside, haven’t you noticed before that people that don’t treat their body well, either by taking abusive drugs or by eating lots of junk food often have the worst breakouts on their faces? This is how the “chocolate causes acne” myth got started. Does chocolate really cause acne? No, but living unhealthily does.
Tetracycline acne is one of the most perscribed antibiotics for acne treatment. It is widely perscribed for one main reason, it works. It does come with a few drawbacks though.
- Tetracycline acne treatment works best when taken on an empty stomach. This is not necessarily a huge drawback for most, but it is one more thing that you have to plan for and remember.
- Tetracycline acne cannot be used to treat children, usually 10 or under and Tetracycline acne cannot be used with pregnant women.
- Tetracycline acne treatment treats the symptoms of acne, it is not a cure for acne by any means.
- Tetracycline acne has been known to cause a few side effects, most noticably making your skin more vulnerable to sunlight. Therefore you have to make sure that your skin is protected, wearing sunscreen often if you have fair skin.
Tetracycline acne is usually taken in doses that corresponds to the severity of your acne. If the your acne is pretty bad, you usually take up to 2 1 gram tablet a day, if your acne is fairly mild, then you will probably be taking between 2 100-250 mg. tablets a day.
Whiteheads, unlike blackheads, can be caused by skin that is too oily or too dry, which makes preventing whiteheads harder and knowing how to get rid of whiteheads more important. Whiteheads are the most annoying of pimples.
How to get rid of whiteheads:
- The first thing that you need to do is open your pore[s], how do you do this? With heat. Take a clean rag, pour hot, but bearable water on it, and hold it to your face for twenty seconds or so.
- Next, you pop the whitehead.
- After popping the whitehead, wash your hands and face.
If whiteheads are a recurring problem and you are doing everything that you can at home to avoid whiteheads, you need to see a dermatologist.
Pimples are annoying and can sometimes be painful, big pimples are even worse. It is important that you can recognize the difference between a pimple that is just bigger than normal, and a pimple that may be infected.
This is what you should do in case you get one of those big, ugly pimples.
Does the pimple look and feel like a normal pimple does, just a little bigger? If this is the case, you probably just got a bigger than average pimple [They are technically called cystic pimples]. It is best not to pop it, but if you must pop it, do so carefully.
Does the pimple look different, feel different, or hurt much more than usual? If this is the case you may have an infection or another serious skin care problem. I would make sure that you see a dermatologist as soon as you can if at all possible.
Take extreme care of your face when you get a big pimple, you do not want to make the situation any worse.
It is hard to tell what pimple treatments actually work. All of them promise to be perfect for you, and they all have testimonials from dozens of people just like you urging you to buy this miracle product. The problem is, everyone is not the same. Everyone has a different facial complexion, different types of acne… It is impossible to create a pimple treatment that will work for everyone. Many pimple treatments actually do work, at least to some extent, but it can be costly paying upwards of 100 dollars a month for various treatments until you find one that works for you.
If you have enough money and resources, going to a dermatologist is probably the best way to treat your pimples. Unfortunately, going to a dermatologist costs money, and although whatever he or she prescribes for you will most likely work, it will not be cheap either.
If you are on a budget, but would still like to treat you pimples, check out the alternative pimple treatment section of this site. There is bound to be at least one or two treatments that will work to help keep acne away, and it will be much cheaper than other ways of treating acne.
